Now I get it!

Well, this will officially be my last blog entry regarding the 3 day Breast Cancer Walk. I had to post some pics b/c I think the pics say so much about what this last weekend was really about. Prior to becoming a "Walker Stalker," I had asked Yo, "Why 60 miles? Why go through all that pain? Couldn't they just donate the money?" I didn't understand why almost 5,000 people would want to walk 20 miles every day, for 3 days. But once I drove to Sunset Cliffs to cheer on these enthusiastic participants and Erin, I got it. I had my "aha!" moment. These participants were making a difference! And those who cheered the walkers on from in front of their homes along the route, with orange slices, water, candy, and smiles, were also a big part of this weekend. It not only made me more aware, it made me count my blessings! My throat got all thick & sore, I found it hard to fight back the emotions. It was touching to see these women walking together side-by-side, making their statement. For some, their statement was- "I'm finally Cancer free!" Others, "My Mom and bestfriend died from this and I don't want it to happen to any more!" There were many other reasons people were out there- that was the beauty of this walk! It's as if they were saying in action, "Why don't we get together, do something outrageous, sacrifice, support one another, comfort each other and share our story... or, listen to someone's!" Wow, that's awesome! The message came across loud and clear... honor and remember, celebrate life, and keep fighting for a cure- TOGETHER!
