What is Good Friday?

Sometimes when I think of Good Friday, I think of two things; husbands getting off of work early, and coloring Easter Eggs.

Did you know that Good Friday is actually...

also called Holy Friday or Great Friday, and is the Friday preceding Easter Sunday. It commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ at Calvary. For the whole story check out: Matthew 27:27-28:8; Mark 15:16-16:19; Luke 23:26-24:35; and John 19:16-20:30.

Doesn't seem so "good" to me, but the result of Him dying on the cross for our sins and raising from the dead on Easter Sunday is REALLY GOOD for me.

it seems so crazy to call it "good friday" when the day was so terrible! kira mentioned some in her blog http://shininess.blogspot.com. my church has a maundy thursday service, and it was so beautiful and terrible...foot washing in love, to covering the cross and fleeing from Christ in the garden. blessings on you, t!
